The nominate helmeted guineafowl has a tall casque while the southern subspecies (ssp. marungensis) has a blunt casque. Both are shown close-up in these images. The juveniles (right lower) were seen at Ndutu (5-10). The immature (right 2nd row) was seen at Ngorongoro (11-04). Ssp. marungensis(left 2nd row) was seen at Katavi (8-06).
